Summary:
This book is an exhibition of the adolescence of teenaged kids trying to reel under the moonlight in broad daylight. This story is about two kids who are smitten by each other and who can't keep their pants on. The boy is a childhood rendition of the Marlboro man, who thinks he has his way with girls. The girl is equally charged in her disposition, as they meet, the resonance of their subconscious bearings brings them close. They end up exchanging numbers, adding each other on the social networking website Facebook and start being in company of each other. They come face to face with various aspects of life awaiting a shift, specifically a shift of attention towards career aspirations as they await the trial of the impending Board results. They both like to think they are practical enough to handle the dynamics of a relationship and take it ahead through time.
As they think they have got it all figured out on how to make things work, they get lots of tests to put their resolutions into practice. How they try to maneuver through the various challenges that come their way. Different career paths would lead them to different countries and they are left illuminating shadows of a long distance relationship. As they battle trust issues among many others, A Lot Like Love a Lil Like Chocolate becomes a tale that focuses on the young and their desires.
Review:
Here is a book by a teenager for teenagers who are caught up in their teenage drives and values or should I say the lack of it. A story full of teenage angst and digressions, this book is based on characters that are still getting potty-trained while they are copulating, emotionally. The characters are straight out of the teen-movie stereotypes, I guess the author engages in watching a lot of teen-movies and reads some really bad books. The author of A Lot Like Love a Lil Like Chocolate refrains to be called an author and rightly so, luckily for him we exist in a society that tolerates such books and even buys it. Sorry outgrown teens, this book is not for you, this book is for those who are riding the lame horse of the cool-quotient that inhibits the psyche of teenagers predominantly caused by apparently indomitable media-frenzy.
